Industrial Concrete Floor Polishing
Polished concrete flooring is such a game changer in terms of great looks and incredible longevity so more and more industrial customers are switching to polished concrete flooring and epoxy coverings. But that still leaves thousands of old concrete floors, often chipped, or crumbly, and frequently exposed as legacy floor coverings wear away. The good news is that Jacksonville Epoxy Pros can bring new life to old concrete floors, even in heavy use areas and where the surface has degraded with time or wear. We can transform your tired old commercial or industrial flooring into a sharp looking, long lasting, state of the art polished floor. Here's how.
Removing Old Floor Coverings The first thing we do is strip away any traces of the legacy floor coverings. Sometimes wear and tear has done a pretty good job of that already but we still need to strip away any traces of coverings that are left to ensure a 100 per cent perfect surface for the refurbished concrete surface. In some cases where concrete has been covered with other materials like linoleum you may not fully be aware of the condition of the underlying concrete until we've done that job. No matter, because once the old coverings are gone we get to work on the concrete itself to leave even the most worn concrete ready for a rebirth. Diamond Grinding Once we've exposed the concrete itself Jacksonville Epoxy Pros get to work with the diamond grinders to completely strip away the top surface and with it any worn or deteriorating concrete. The depth to which we strip the top depends on the composition of the concrete itself and the extent to which it has degraded. Options include a simple superficial 'shave' of the flooring if that's all that's required to open it up for further treatment or much deeper approaches where we grind down to a deeper level to expose aggregate elements like marble or granite chips. The amount of grinding required depends on both the condition of the concrete and the mix of its components. Densifying Once the concrete is 'opened up' ready for working on Jacksonville Epoxy Pros then set to work with water based densifier (hardener) that bonds with the freshly exposed concrete and helps create a bulletproof surface for your fully refurbished industrial flooring. Because polishing old floors isn't just about prettying them up – it's about making them tougher than ever before. Resin Polishing And then there's the beauty treatment where resin granules are used to smooth and polish the concrete surface to give it a new surface. This can be anything from squeaky smooth gloss to a satin texture and will be so breathtakingly beautiful you will not be able to remember how it used to look when it was oil stained, and crisscrossed with tire tracks. Best of all your newly refurbished polished floor will be much easier to maintain and so you can continue to enjoy those good looks for a long time to come. |
